Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer - The Singapore Experience
Brendon McNiven - Principal, Building Engineering Melbourne (ARUP)
Brendon has spent eight of the last ten years in Singapore. During that time the city has reinvented itself as a premier tourist and business destination around the new Marina Bay downtown.
Arup has been involved in much of this work. Brendon will share some of his experiences of working in Singapore including insights into the design and construction of The Singapore Flyer (currently the tallest Observation wheel in the world), and the recently completed USD5.5B Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort.
The Speaker: Brendon is a structural engineer specialising in architectural buildings. He recently returned to Melbourne after eight years leading the buildings practice in Arup’s Singapore office. He has been responsible for delivery of some of the Arup’s major projects including the Singapore Flyer, the world’s highest observation wheel at 165m, and more recently the skyline changing Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort. His specialist skills include lightweight structures, building stability systems, structural dynamics, façades, heritage buildings, and 3D/BIM assisted design delivery.
