Avery Louise Bang - CEO, Bridges to Prosperity
Bridges to Prosperity (http://bridgestoprosperity.org/ ) partners with engineers and contractors around the world to survey, design and construct long-span cable supported pedestrian bridge projects for underserved communities in need. With over 170 bridges in 18 countries completed to date, Avery will speak on her personal experience growing the organization to scale B2P’s efforts while keeping people and passion at the heart of the effort.
The Speaker: Avery was named an Engineering News Record Top 25 Newsmakers; she was honored on ENR Mountain Region’s Top 20 Under 40 List in 2013, and was selected as one of American Society of Civil Engineers Fresh Faces in 2011, recognizing the top ten Civil Engineers under 30. Avery is a Distinguished Young Alumni of The University of Iowa, a recipient of the Recent Alumni Award from The University of Colorado at Boulder, and received an honorary doctorate of science degree from Clarkson University in 2014.
Avery currently teaches Cable Supported Pedestrian Bridge Design at the UC-Boulder in the Mortenson Center for Engineering in Developing Communities.
