Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. With growing demand for, and industry acceptance of BIM production, BIM has become the new frontier of cutting edge project delivery and Hi-Fidelity design outcomes.
As chief stakeholders in the BIM process, today more than ever Structural Engineers need to have a working knowledge of what BIM is and their personal involvement in workflow and production of the Building Information.
Nathan will discuss the practical integration of Building Information Model (BIM) workflows and concepts into the Structural Design Process. Specifically he will examine the pros and cons of ETABS, Space Gass, RAM, Safe / Rapt when used in the BIM environment.
The Speaker: Nathan is the Leader of the Structures Documentation Team for Meinhardt here in Melbourne and has a greater role of coordinating BIM assets and development for the company nationally.
Nathan conducts BIM efforts across multi-discipline teams in the Gold Coast, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne as well as for international teams and partners.
Nathan is a member of the Revit User Group Victoria and Autodesk User Group International and has been producing BIM models using various software platforms for 10+ years for structural design firms in Australia and New Zealand on a variety of industrial and commercial projects that include Universities, High-Rise Residential, Infrastructure including Bridges, Hospitals, Government projects and Oil Refineries.
